Strategic Event Design is the proud event producer for the training of thousands of Pre-K teachers for the New York Public School System. Working in conjunction with the esteemed Bank Street College of Education and the Department of Education, city educators were invited to attend specialized three-day Pre-K workshops which were held across Brooklyn and Queens. A whopping 4,000 teachers turned out to participate in workshops on core curriculum, classroom management and addressing diverse student and parent needs.

Educators from public and charter schools as well as community based organization were invited to attend, free of charge, but were not required to do so. Workshop materials were designed with the professionals at Bank Street to ensure that high quality content addressed the needs of the city’s incredibly diverse four-year old population. The program is designed to instruct children on social and emotional skills through exercises and play and not designed to be daycare style interaction.

This massive initiative is scheduled to begin September 4th with 53,000 students. The city is working diligently in a variety of ways to prepare for the rollout. They are currently recruiting students and modifying centers to meet health and building code regulations. The educator training initiative is critical to program success as at least 4,000 of the 7,000 pre-k teachers will now be well-versed in pre-K instruction.

Thanks for allowing SED to be a part of such an amazing event!
